If, when copying data from an optical disc to a computer hard drive, the operating system displays the error "The request was not executed due to an input / output error on the device" and interrupts the operation, it means that Windows is using a data transfer format that is not supported by the device (that is, the drive).
Instructions
Step 1
Go to the "Device Manager" section by right-clicking on the icon on the desktop "My Computer" and selecting the item of the same name in the menu that appears. If there is no such item in the menu, click on the inscription "Control" and find the line "Device Manager" on the left side of the "Control" window.
Step 2
Find the item regarding devices marked IDE ATA / ATAPI. Click the left mouse button on the small triangle (or "plus" sign), which opens the contents of this item. The dispatcher will display a list of channels. Select one of the lines for the optical drive connection. This channel is most commonly referred to as the “Secondary IDE Channel”. Click on this line with the right mouse button and select "Properties". Then go to the "Additional parameters" tab in the window that opens and check if there is a drive in the list. If the list is empty, try opening the properties of another channel.
Step 3
Select the "PIO Only" option and agree to the changes by clicking on the "OK" button. Try copying data from disk again. If the changes are not beneficial and the error persists, try using the settings for a different channel. Pay close attention to the changes you make to your computer. Carelessness can cause serious computer malfunctions.
Step 4
Also, do not forget to restart your computer after changing any settings, since the system updates all parameters only after restarting the personal computer.
