Step 1
Select the appropriate image from which the favicon.ico icon will be created.
- square image
- small size
- simple, no small details
- file size - no more than 300 kB.
It is better to use one easily recognizable subject, with clear boundaries and a contrasting background. For example, a company logo or other simple image.
You can create this picture yourself, using any graphics editor.
You can pick up several images, and then choose the best one from the resulting icons.
Step 2
Creation of an icon.
There are many online services that offer this service. Search any search engine for "favicon.ico". Choose the service you like.
Let's analyze the creation of an icon using the example of the site favicon.ru.
- Go to the site.
- The icon creation window appears. Click the "Browse …" button and select the file on your computer that you want to convert to favicon.ico.
- Click "Create favicon.ico!"
- A window appears - a view of the address bar with the resulting icon.
- If you like the result - click "Download favicon.ico!". In the download window that appears, select "Save" to save the icon to your hard drive.
If you want to change something:
- click "Edit Icon" - and make changes in the appeared simple graphic editor.
- or select "Create another icon" - and try to create it from another file.
Step 3
Add an icon to the site.
Upload the icon to the root directory of your site.
- For example, "www" or "public_html". If you do not know the exact path to the root directory, check it with the support service.
Write on each page of the site between the tags and two lines:
