Instructions
Step 1
Use a bundle of software and an external midi controller to use your midi keyboard as a DJ controller. Connect it to your computer, start Virtual DJ. Open the external controller selection window. Select the General midi option, check the Activate box, click Config, then you will be taken to the midi settings window.
Step 2
Click on the Add button, select a certain group of parameters in the left button, and in the central one select the parameter you need, move the selected slider or click on the button. The controller number and value will appear at the top of the screen. The right button displays information about the controller assignment and range of values.
Step 3
Use the following types of parameter control: Button, in this case the controller can take two values (from 0 to 127); a slider is a controller with a limited range of movement; wheel (Wheel) - controller that can rotate. Select from the drop-down menu to execute the message in any way (apply to the default deck, the specified deck, or the currently selected).
Step 4
Go to the main menu after assigning parameters for the midi keyboard. It displays a list of its controllers and parameters controlled by them. If necessary, you can change the selected item to change the behavior of the controller or delete it. Save the configured midi keyboard configuration using the Save button. For example, you can assign Level 1 and 2, Crossfader, Pitch1, 2 controllers as sliders; to control encoders - Treble 1, Bass 1, 2, Mid 1, 2, Gain 1, 2.
Step 5
Assign the deck selection to the sw1 and sw2 buttons. After you load the Midi keyboard settings, all encoder values will be zero, so be sure to define their values before starting. As a result, you will have a DJ controller implementation. Its capabilities depend entirely on the chosen midi keyboard.
