Usually, during the initial setup of a hard drive, it is divided into several partitions. This allows you to allocate a certain part for the resources of the operating system. In the event of an OS failure, you can safely format the desired partition without losing important files.

Step 1
To merge local disks on which no operating systems are installed, use the standard Windows tools. Remember that this method involves completely cleaning up the partitions involved in the merge.
Step 2
Copy all important files from the selected local drives. Use DVDs or other external storage devices for temporary storage. Open the control panel. Navigate to the "Administration" item by selecting it from the "System and Security" menu.
Step 3
Double click on the "Computer Management" shortcut and expand the "Disk Management" menu.
Step 4
Select the partition of the hard drive with the right mouse button, which will participate in the merging. Go to "Delete volume". Delete other local drives in the same way.
Step 5
Click the Action tab and select Update. After the graphical image of the unallocated area appears, select it with the left mouse button and go to the "Create volume" option.

Set the parameters for the new local disk and click the Create button. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Step 7
For situations where the system local drive is involved in the merge process, use the Partition Manager application. Install this program and restart your computer.

Launch Partition Manager, open the Wizards menu and select the Redistribute Space Between Partitions option. Select the partition to be resized and click Next.
Step 9
Specify the donor disk, click "Next" and set new values for the sizes of the selected partitions of the hard drive. Click the Finish button. Select the "Apply Changes" item, which is located in the "Changes" tab.
Step 10
Restart your computer after the appropriate menu appears. Check the status of your local disks after you exit Partition Manager.
