Depending on the type of camcorder used, the computer software required to operate it also differs. The second factor when choosing an application is its purpose, i.e. whether you just need to view the created videos and photos with it, or you need to process them, or maybe you need to record the image coming from the camera on a computer or carry out any other operations.
In the simplest case, no additional software needs to be installed at all. For example, to install a new webcam, it is often enough to simply connect it to a computer - the operating system will try to select the driver required for operation from its own collection. If a message appears stating that the OS was unable to recognize the new device, the driver must be installed from the optical disc that is sold with the camera. If there is no such disc, it can be downloaded from the website of the camera manufacturer.
To view videos or photos captured on a camcorder, the image and video viewers installed with the operating system may also be sufficient. These programs play the most common formats of static photos TIFF and JPEG without problems, and to view the MOD and RAW video recording standards, you may need to install additional codecs. If the standard viewers do not suit you, install a video player program - most of them work not only with videos of various formats, but also with static images, and even with music in the appendix. You can use WinDV or Adobe Premiere to capture streaming video from the camera. The first of them has a narrow specialization - only saving a stream to a file or vice versa, playing back a recording from a file on a connected video camera. And the second has powerful tools for processing the captured image. However, the source for it can be not only a direct stream, but also a file copied from the camera's memory. The Windows OS also has a program for video processing (Movie Maker), but its capabilities are significantly inferior to the monster from Adobe or the similar program Pinnacle Studio.
