It is not difficult to create and configure a local network formed by two devices. When it comes to laptop and computer, this can be done in several different ways.
Instructions
Step 1
First, let's look at the simplest option - creating a wired connection between your computer and laptop. In this case, you will need a network cable of the correct length.
Step 2
Connect the network adapters of the laptop and computer to each other. A new local network will appear on both devices. But, as a rule, a computer and a laptop are combined for a specific purpose. This is most often done to quickly exchange data or to create a general Internet access. In this case, you need to configure the local network.
Step 3
Consider a situation when a computer is connected to the Internet, and you need to provide access to it from a laptop. Open your internet connection properties. Select the "Access" tab. Allow the computers on the local area network you created to use this connection.
Step 4
Open the settings of the network adapter that is connected to the laptop. Give it a permanent (static) IP address, which will be 192.168.0.1.
Step 5
Open the same menu on your laptop. Set an IP address that will match the first three segments from the computer's IP, for example 192.168.0.5. Now enter the IP address of the first computer in the third and fourth fields of this menu. They are called "Default Gateway" and "Preferred DNS Server".
Step 6
If you do not want to use a cable to synchronize a laptop with a computer, then purchase a Wi-Fi adapter. Connect this hardware to your computer and install drivers for it.
Step 7
Open the Network and Sharing Center. Go to the "Wireless Management" menu. Select "Add". In the next window, select "Create a computer-to-computer network". Set the network name, security type and password for it. In the next menu, enable sharing for this network.
Step 8
Activate the search for wireless networks on your laptop. Connect to the hotspot you created. If there is no Internet access, then disable the firewall on the computer.
