The fact is that in each next update, the developers fix many bugs, improve security, functionality, ease of use of the browser, etc. There are two ways to update the Mozilla Firefox browser: manually or by turning on automatic updates.
Refresh Firefox manually
So, to update Mozilla Firefox, you first need to launch your browser. Then in the menu bar you need to select "Help" - "About Firefox" (if there is no menu bar, you need to hold down the "alt" key). In the window that appears, click on the "Check for Updates" button. After checking, the browser will indicate the available version for download, and then you need to click the "Apply update" button.
In a new window that appears, the program will tell you which plugins have appeared in the new version of the browser. To proceed with the installation, click the "OK" button. In the next step, you can enable add-ons, plugins and tools that come in handy for the job. In order not to look later where the add-ons are included, you can put a checkmark next to all the add-ons you need and click the "Finish" button.
This will open the software update window and start downloading the new version of Mozilla Firefox. The update process takes a few minutes, but you can hide the window and do other things. After a successful download, in the same window, you need to click the "Restart Firefox" button. This is necessary in order for all new settings to be applied successfully.
After restarting the program, the browser will be updated, and you can familiarize yourself with the new added functions.
Firefox automatic updates
In order not to check manually every time a new update for Firefox has been released or not, you can enable automatic browser updates. To do this, select the "Tools" item in the menu bar and go to the settings. Then you need to select the "Advanced" item and go to the "Update" tab.
There are several options to choose from here: let the browser update automatically; allow the program to check for updates, but let the user decide whether to install it or not. There is also a third option - never check for updates, but it's better not to choose such an item.
Depending on the option selected, the browser will update automatically or notify the user when a new version is available.
