With the help of the "Search" function, the user can quickly find the files and folders he needs on the local disks of the computer and removable media. Usually there are no problems with calling the search engine. If you are faced with difficulties, you need to set the correct settings for the elements of the system.
Instructions
Step 1
The "Search" command is invoked through the "Start" menu. If you cannot find it, there are several ways to do it: either invoke the command through the My Computer item, or customize its display in the Start menu.
Step 2
In the first case, click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop or in the "Start" menu with the right mouse button. In the drop-down menu, select the "Find" command by clicking on it with the left mouse button. A search window will open.

To customize the display of a command in the Start menu, press the Windows key or the Start button, select Control Panel from the menu. In the Appearance and Themes category, left-click the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties icon.
Step 4
Alternative option: right-click in any place free from icons on the taskbar. In the context menu, select the "Properties" item. A new dialog box will open. Go to it on the "Start Menu" tab.
Step 5
Click on the "Customize" button opposite the "Start Menu" field, a new window will open. Make the "Advanced" tab active in it. In the Start Menu Items group, use the mouse wheel or scroll bar to scroll down the list until you find Search.
Step 6
Place a marker in the "Search" field and click the OK button, the additional window will close automatically. Apply the new settings in the properties window of the taskbar and close it with the OK button or the [x] icon.
Step 7
The search function is provided in folders. If you do not see the required button in the open folder window, select the Toolbars item from the View menu and mark the Normal buttons sub-item with a marker.
Step 8
Another way: right-click on the toolbar and mark the "Regular buttons" item in the context menu by clicking on it with the left mouse button. To start searching, click on the magnifying glass thumbnail.
