Find a Solution is an add-in in the spreadsheet editor Microsoft Office Excel. It is used to find the optimal formula value in one selected cell of the spreadsheet. By default, this add-in is disabled in Excel, but it can be activated at any time by means of the editor itself, without installing any additional applications.

It is necessary

Tabular editor Microsoft Office Excel 2007 or 2010

Instructions

Step 1

Start the spreadsheet editor and expand the main menu. In Excel 2007, this is done by clicking the large, round Office button in the upper left corner of the window, and in Excel 2010, by clicking the blue button labeled "File" located in approximately the same place. You can open it without a mouse - first press the alt="Image" key (once or twice), and then enter "F".

Step 2

Open the list of editor settings. In the 2007 version, this is done by the Excel Options button at the bottom right of the main menu, while in Excel 2010 the Options item has been added to the list of commands in the left column - it is the second from the bottom.

Step 3

The window with the settings of the tabular editor of both versions is divided into two vertical frames: the left one contains the list of sections, and the right one contains the settings related to the section. Find and click the "Add-ons" line in the list.

Step 4

In the right frame, under Inactive Application Add-ins, select the line that begins with the text Find a Solution. Click OK and the add-in will be activated, but it will not appear on the Excel menu yet.

Step 5

Go to the "Developer" tab in the spreadsheet editor menu. If it is not there, first right-click the free space of the buttons in any section of the menu and select "Customize the Ribbon". Then in the list of "Main tabs" find the line "Developer", put a check next to it and click OK - the tab will be added to the "ribbon" of the menu.

Step 6

Click on the "Add-ons" icon and in the "Available Add-ons" list, check the "Search for a solution" box. Click OK and an additional group of commands will appear on the Data tab with the name Analysis. The button "Search for a solution" will be placed in it.

Step 7

The "Developer" tab is not needed for this add-in to work, so you can remove it from the menu - disable its display in the same way that you enabled it (see the fifth step).
