It is customary to refer to the ping function as checking the availability of Internet resources by sending a packet of a certain size to the host being used and measuring the data return time. Disabling this feature is usually necessary when playing online games to reduce possible delays.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the main menu of the Windows operating system to completely disable ping and go to the "Control Panel" item.
Step 2
Expand the "Windows Firewall" link and go to the "Advanced" tab of the firewall dialog box that appears.
Step 3
Click the ICMP Settings button and uncheck the Allow incoming echo request box.
Step 4
Confirm the application of the selected changes by clicking OK or use the specialized built-in IPSec utility to block all incoming and outgoing ping packets (for Windows XP).

Open the Run dialog and enter the value mmc in the Open field.
Step 6
Click OK to confirm the command and open the File menu in the top toolbar of the application window.

Specify the Add / Remove Snap-in command and add the IP Security and Policy Management snap-in.

Check the Local computer box and close the wizard by clicking the Close button.

Confirm your choice by clicking OK and open the context menu of the IP Security Policies line in the left pane of the console by clicking the right mouse button.

Specify the Manage IP filter Lists and Filter Actions command and select the All ICMP Traffic item in the dialog box that opens.

Make sure you are using the correct filters in the new dialog and go to the Manage Filter Actions tab.

Skip the first window by clicking Next and enter Block in the Filter Action Name line of the next dialog.

Call the context menu of the IP Security Policies line in the MMC console by right-clicking and specifying the Create IP Security Policy command.

Click Next on the first dialog of the New Policy Wizard and enter Block Ping in the Name line of the next window.

Confirm your choice by clicking Next and uncheck the Activate the default responce rule box in the next window.

Call the context menu of the created policy by right-clicking in the MMC console window and specify the Assign command.
