Ping (or Latency) is the time it takes to send and receive a data packet in one second, or more succinctly, the server latency. Therefore, the lower the ping, the lower the latency, and vice versa. The reason for the large ping is an overflow of the communication channel, poor quality of the Internet connection, or a physically long distance to the server. And the consequence is the delay between the player's actions and the program's response to these actions, the so-called "lags". In this article, we will discuss one of the ways to reduce ping to a minimum.
Instructions
Step 1
The proposed method will help those players who use a VPN connection to access the Internet. For everyone else, reducing ping in this way can also help, but to a lesser extent. The method can be used for almost any network game: 1. Start and minimize the game.
2. Open the Task Manager (press the Ctrl, alt="Image" and Delete keys at the same time, or right-click on the Control Panel and select "Start Task Manager" from the menu that appears). You will see a list of currently running processes.
3. Find the game process and right-click on it, select the "Priority" item and in the menu that appears, indicate "Below Average".
4. Close the task manager and return to the game.
Step 2
In order not to do these steps every time before starting the game, you can automate this process. To do this, you need to create a special file that immediately launches the game with the required priority. 1. Go to the game folder and create a file with the cmd extension, for example, start.cmd.
2. Open it with notepad and write the following: start / belownormal wow.exe (for World of Warcraft), start / belownormal L2.exe (for Lineage), start / belownormal hl2.exe -game cstrike (for Counter-Strike: Source), start / belownormal hl.exe -game cstrike (for Counter-Strike 1.6), etc.
