Step 1
If you have used your hard drive for less than a year, then defragmenting it once a week using the capabilities of the operating system is enough. Turn on your PC or laptop and open the My Computer menu. Right-click on the icon of one of the hard disk partitions.
Step 2
Select Properties from the expanded menu. Go to the Tools tab and click the Defragment button. Select the required local disk by clicking on its name with the left mouse button. Click the Disk Defragmenter button. Wait for the system to complete the required procedures. Defragment the remaining local disks in the same way.

Step 4
Prepare your hard drive for the defragmentation process. Delete any files you don't need. This will allow the creature to reduce the time that the program will spend on performing the necessary operations. Pay special attention to large files such as videos.
Step 5
Open the "Settings" tab and go to the "Algorithm" menu. Check the box next to "Skip more fragments" and select the "50 MB" option from the list. Click the Ok button.

Check the boxes next to the names of all local drives. Click on the arrow next to Defragment. Select the "Defragment and Optimize" option.

Check the box next to "Turn off PC after defragmentation" if you decide to run this process overnight.
