Flash drives are one of the most reliable sources of data storage. When you need to transfer large amounts of information from one computer to another, it is better to do it using a USB device. As a rule, the speed of writing to modern flash drives is much higher than the speed of hard drives. Plus, the high reliability of devices based on flash memory contributes to their widespread use.
Necessary
- - computer;
- - flash card.
Instructions
Step 1
To write data to the flash memory of the device, of course, it must be connected to a computer. Ordinary flash drives (not memory cards) are connected using a standard USB port. All you need to do is plug it into the USB port. If the flash card is inserted for the first time, then you still need to wait until the operating system installs drivers for it. This process is automated. There is no fundamental difference between a flash drive and a memory card. The first has a memory access controller. Although many modern memory cards are also equipped with controllers.
Step 2
When the flash drive is connected, recognized and installed drivers, it will be displayed in "My Computer". Now you can write information to it. This is done in a standard way. It is necessary to right-click on the file to be written and select "Copy" in the context menu.
Step 3
Open the USB flash drive and select the folder where the file will be written. Click on this folder with the right mouse button and select "Paste" in the context menu. The speed of a flash drive depends not only on its capabilities, but also on the characteristics of your motherboard.
Step 4
As for recording information on memory cards, the difference here is that you cannot connect a memory card directly. In this case, you can use either the built-in, if the computer is equipped with it, or an external card reader. If there is neither one nor the other, then you need to insert the memory card into a digital device (camera, phone, smartphone), and then select the storage mode. After that, you will get access to your memory card.
Step 5
If your flash memory device is set to the FAT file system, you cannot copy a file larger than four gigabytes to it. To correct this shortcoming, you should assign the NTFS file system to your device.
