The Windows 7 operating system is distributed in several formats. One of these formats is an OS disk image. As a rule, after purchasing the digital version of the operating system, the user receives exactly the disk image. If with the installation of Windows 7 directly from the media, everything is more and less clear, then in the case of installing the OC from the image there are some subtleties.
Necessary
- - Computer;
- - USB flash drive or DVD;
- - utility DVD to USB v.2.0.
Instructions
Step 1
There are several ways to install an operating system from an image. To implement the first method, you must have a flash drive of at least four gigabytes. Download from the Internet a proprietary utility from Microsoft called DVD to USB v.2.0 and is completely free. After downloading, run the installation of the utility. During the installation process, you need to register the program. To do this, enter your email address and username.
Step 2
Run the program. In its main menu, click on the brows button and specify the path to the image of the Windows 7 operating system. After that, go on. Now you will need to choose a location where you want to burn the OS image. Select your USB stick. Wait while the operating system image is written to the USB device. After that, you can proceed directly to the installation.
Step 3
First you need to open the BIOS menu. To do this, on the initial screen of turning on the computer, press the Del key. If the BIOS does not open after pressing this key, then a different key should be used on your motherboard. You can find out about this from the instructions for your motherboard.
Step 4
In the BIOS, you need to choose to boot the system from a flash drive. To do this, set the USB parameter to the number 1 in the First Boot Device parameter. Then exit BIOS. Remember to save your settings when you exit. The computer will restart and the installation of the operating system will start automatically. The very process of installing an OS from a USB flash drive does not differ from the action performed from a boot disk.
Step 5
If you don't have a flash drive, you can use a regular DVD. Just insert the media into your computer's drive, but select the drive from the DVD to USB program menu instead of the flash drive. After that, the image will be written to the media, and you will have a full-fledged bootable disk with the Windows 7 operating system.
