Operating system Windows Seven

Instructions

Step 1

It should be noted right away that when you turn off one or more processor cores on a computer with Windows XP installed, it becomes difficult to start them again. At the time of the emergence of this system, dual-core processes were not widespread, therefore, at the moment, preference is given to newer systems.

Step 2

If Windows XP was installed on your computer, change it to Windows Seven if the hardware allows you to do so. "Seven" is more demanding on resources. Before updating or reinstalling the system, it is recommended to copy important documents and necessary files to special storage, for example, removable media.

Step 3

Insert the Seven installation disc and restart your computer. Press the Delete key or F2 (for laptops) while the BIOS boots. In the BIOS Setup window, go to the Boot section and select the CD / DVD drive as the main device. To exit BIOS Setup and save the changes, press the F10 key and then Enter.

Step 4

After restarting the computer, the bootloader from the installation disc will be read. During installation, you can choose to update the current system. In this case, all data will be saved. Wait for the end of the installation process, after the reboot, a welcome window will appear. You need to open system settings and specify the number of cores that should be enabled if they were not enabled by default.

Step 5

To find out the number of running cores, you need to open the "Task Manager". Press the key combination Ctrl + Shift + Esc and click on the "Performance" tab. The number of sectors shows the current state of the involved cores. It is also possible to find out this value and adjust it through the CPU section of the BIOS Setup menu.
