Instructions

Step 1

Start Word and open the document you want, or create a new one. Click on the "Insert" tab. Find the "Illustrations" block on the toolbar and click on the "Diagram" thumbnail button. The "Insert Chart" window will open, select the layout that suits your case, and click the OK button.

Step 2

After the selection is made, Microsoft Office Excel will automatically open. For clarity, arbitrary data has already been entered in the cells on the sheet, replace them with your own. The area of data on which the chart is built is surrounded by a blue frame. If you are missing the indicated rows or columns, expand the selected range.

Step 3

Move the mouse cursor to the lower right corner of the frame, press the left mouse button. Keeping it pressed, drag the outline of the frame to the location you want and release the mouse button. After you finish entering data in the cells, you can close the Excel workbook.

Step 4

If you want to make changes to an already created diagram, select it. The context menu "Working with charts" with three tabs will become available: "Design", "Layout" and "Format". Use the tools available to customize the diagram to suit your needs.

Step 5

If you find it inconvenient to work with the tools on the panel, right-click in the desired place in the diagram and select the appropriate command from the context menu. So, to change the appearance of the chart, select the "Format Chart Area" item in the drop-down menu. A new dialog box will open where you can customize the chart borders, select a background image, or apply a drop shadow effect.

Step 6

In the same way, you can correct the data and the names of the axes. Do not forget to select the appropriate data block in the diagram for this. To remove a chart from your document, select it and press the Delete or Backspace key.
