An illustration of the calculations performed in the form of diagrams and graphs is an excellent opportunity to make the prepared reports more visual. Information presented in the form of visual images is much better remembered. One of the ways to improve the perception of the results of the study is to translate dry statistics into visual images of Excel diagrams.

Instructions

Step 1

To build a chart in Excel, enter the required data in the tabular form. Select their full range and click on the "Chart Wizard" button on the toolbar. A similar action will take place if you choose the "Diagram …" command from the "Insert" menu.

Step 2

In the window that appears, select the appropriate type of chart. Which chart type to choose depends on the information that the numbers you entered are illustrating, as well as your personal taste. Complex statistical series look good in the form of a regular histogram, which can then be given a volumetric look. At the same time, simple percentages, as well as tables consisting of two columns, are adequately perceived in the form of a pie chart, as an option - charts with highlighted sectors.

Step 3

In the next settings window, specify the ranges of the data used. To plot the chart in Excel, also enter the X and Y axis labels as needed. Optionally, specify if you want to add a legend to the chart and label the values. Then select the location of the chart: on the same sheet where the table with the data itself is located, or on a separate Excel sheet. In the latter case, the table will take up the entire space of the new sheet, and when printed, it is scaled to the full size of the paper for printing.

Step 4

Later, you can change the appearance and settings of the chart by right-clicking on its area and selecting one of the commands from the drop-down list: type, source data, parameters and location.
