Video cards are built into the motherboard or processor - these are poorly suited for games, but, nevertheless, they allow you to fully work with a computer. There are also discrete or standalone video cards. They look like a board, the size of the palm of your hand, and are installed in a special connector on the motherboard.

The easiest and most reliable way to determine the manufacturer of the video card, as well as its model, is to run the diagnostic program. One such program is GPU-Z. This is a specialized utility for determining the detailed characteristics of a video card. Another common tool is the Everest or AIDA Comprehensive Diagnostic Tool. These programs provide complete information about all components of the computer.

Open the page of the search engine that is more convenient for you to use. Enter a request like this: "Download gpu-z". The best option is to download the program installer from the developer's official website. The utility is completely free, unlike a comprehensive program such as AIDA or Everest.

Double-click the downloaded utility file. The program does not require installation. If you downloaded a version that is zipped, first right-click on the file with the program and select the "Extract to current folder" menu item.
Step 4
Run the file named gpu-z, you will see the program window. First of all, pay attention to the logo in the upper right corner of the window. If the icon is red and you see the letters ATI Radeon, then you have a video card based on an AMD chip from the ATI Radeon family. If the icon is green and the inscription says NVIDIA, it means that your video card belongs to the GeForce family and is based on a chip from Nvidia.

The next thing you can find out is the specific model of your video card. At the very bottom of the program window, on the left, you will see an inscription in the line of the drop-down list. This is the full name of the video card. First, the manufacturer and the video processor chip are indicated. Then there are letters denoting certain features of the product, the digital model code and the word Series, for example, ATI Radeon HD 6770 Series. This means the Radeon 6770 graphics card.
Step 6
Now take a look just below the logo in the program window. Find the line Subvendor. Opposite it, the specific manufacturer of your video card will be indicated, for example, ASUS, or Sapphire, or MSI. It is possible that nothing will be written in this field - this is a normal situation, it often happens with inexpensive video cards from little-known manufacturers. Usually gpu-z allows for accurate installation by most video card manufacturers.
