Step 1
Download the program by entering a request like "download Regedit" in the search window of any browser, install it. Then in the "Start" menu, click on the item "Run", then enter regedit and click "OK". It is recommended to back up the following files before making any changes to the registry: user.dat and system..dat. So you will protect the system from problems associated with incorrect work with the registry.
Step 2
The operation of creating a backup copy of the registry is to copy the files mentioned above. It can be done using the "Export" command. After running regedit, select the desired section, then click on the "File" menu items and then "Export". Specify the directory where the backup is saved and name it. Click on "Save".
Step 3
To make changes to one or another registry value, select the desired value in one of its branches, right-click on the selected element, then select the "Change" item and enter the new value of the element in the "Value" field. Confirm the changes by clicking on the "Ok" button.
Step 4
You can not only change the values of certain registry entries, but also add new ones. To do this, in one of the branches of the registry, you need to create a new element by clicking on the corresponding button, and then change it as described above. There are several types of value.

Registry value types:
- REG_BINARY - binary or binary;
- REG_DWORD - numeric;
- REG_EXPAND_SZ - string;
- REG_MULTI_SZ - multi-line;
- REG_SZ - a string type with a fixed string length.

Click in the required branch on the empty space with the right mouse button and select "New". Then select the desired value from the list. After making changes, click on the "Ok" button, confirming the selection.
