The uninstallation of programs must be done correctly, otherwise the system on your computer may become unusable. Correct deletion will free up space and maintain the operating system.
Standard tools
Special utilities are required to uninstall programs. If you simply delete the shortcut or folder with the program, then this will lead to the fact that the operating system will have many folders and files of this program, which will clog it. If you decide to independently find and delete all data files of a specific program, then perhaps by mistake delete the system file necessary for Windows to work and you will have to restore or reinstall the entire system.
Use the built-in Windows utility. Open the Start menu or press Win + X and select Control Panel (you can do the same by pressing Win + R). Next, go to the "Programs" and "Remove Programs" menu. In the window that opens, you will see a list of installed programs. Select the one you need and in the panel located at the top of the window, click "Uninstall / Change". Confirm your decision in the dialog that appears and uninstall the program. This action will lead to both uninstallation of the program data and to the removal of shortcuts and folders. Sometimes, during this procedure, you may be asked about saving application data (cookies, history, passwords, saving). If you want to permanently delete the application and never use it again, then you can delete all data as well. If you only temporarily want to free up space on your hard drive, do not delete the application data. For example, if you reinstall the game, the passed levels will be saved, and if you reinstall the browser, history and passwords will be saved.
In addition to the built-in Windows utility, many programs have their own uninstallation tools. You can find them either in the start menu or in the list of installed Windows programs. After starting, the standard confirmation procedure will follow and the program will be deleted.
In the tiled interface of Windows 8, you can open the list of programs and, by right-clicking on a specific icon, you can see the "Uninstall a program" item in the menu below. Metro applications are removed in this way immediately, and the rest call the already described utility.
Third party programs
If you are still not satisfied with the standard features, try third-party programs such as Reg Cleaner. Such utilities allow you to remove unnecessary software, clean and edit the Windows registry, delete temporary files, duplicates, etc. You need to use such solutions very carefully, because you can inadvertently delete important data or break the system.
