Step 1

Open "My Computer" and check the free space on the system drive. Usually, the C: drive is used as the system drive. Right-click on the disk icon and select the "Properties" menu item. On the General tab, you will see a diagram of disk space usage, along with information about free and used space. Hibernation usually requires at least 3 gigabytes of unallocated disk space. Delete or move unneeded files and check again. As a result, you will have a place for the service file of hibernation or "Sleep" mode.

Click the "Start" button and launch the command execution menu - the "Run" item. Type the command to call the system console cmd and click OK. A command prompt text window will open. Type the command powercfg -h on, this will create a file on your hard disk where Windows will save data about the current state of the computer, for example, your open files and programs. This file will have a size equal to the amount of the computer's RAM. Close the console window after executing the command.

Open the Start menu again and select Run. Enter the command powercfg.cpl in the line - this will open the menu for configuring the computer's power settings. Another way: open the control panel, launch the Power Options menu. In both cases, you will see a window for setting the modes to turn off the monitor and use options for lower power consumption.

Click on the "Configure Power Plan" link. There will be several of them in the window. Choose the one opposite the current meal plan marked with a black dot. Expand the Sleep After submenu and select the time in minutes that suits you. Expand "Allow Hybrid Sleep" and disable it. Also select Disabled in the Allow Wake Timers menu. Click the Apply button, agree to restart your computer first.

Repeat these steps for all energy plans you use. For example, for laptops, it might make sense to set the Power Plan to Economy. Be sure to restart your computer. After that, the sleep mode will appear in the shutdown menu.
