Over the past three years, LCD devices (based on liquid crystal technology) have completely replaced traditional CRT monitors (with cathode ray tubes). There are many reasons for this, but the main advantages of LCD monitors are: affordability (prices have fallen to the point of impossibility today), dimensions (an LCD monitor takes up several times less space on the table compared to a CRT model of the same diagonal), stress on the eyes (nothing flickers on the monitor) and the absence of radiation. Today's choice of LCD monitors is huge, the number of their varieties can confuse the common buyer. Therefore, it is advisable that he knows the basic selection criteria.

Instructions

Step 1

Let's start with the external characteristics of the monitor:

Color. Factory standard LCD monitor design you can choose from: Black, Silver, Black Silver, Dark Blue. But, of course, each customer can order a color scheme at his own discretion (for example, to match the color of a computer desk or interior).

Diagonal. Today, LCD monitor manufacturers offer models ranging from a minimum of 15 "to a maximum of 22". The choice depends on which diagonal you need a monitor.

Dimensional characteristics. Instead of the usual 4: 3 (5: 4) monitors, you can also see models with an aspect ratio of 16:10 (16: 9). These monitors are called widescreen monitors. Having bought such a model, you will understand that you no longer need to collapse the necessary folders, and in applications, reduce the scale or close the toolbars.

Step 2

Besides the appearance of the LCD monitor, its technical characteristics are also important.

Brightness. This is the maximum brightness limit for your monitor (300 cd / m2 is considered standard). This is important if you will be working with dark images.

Contrast of the monitor. It depends on how many levels of brightness the pixels can create (the standard ranges from 600: 1 to 700: 1). It can be adjusted using buttons on the monitor itself. The brightness and contrast of the LCD monitor should be comfortable for the eyes.

Oscillation frequency. The quality of the image and the speed of changing the picture depend on it (it must be at least 75 Hz).

Viewing angle. If you are buying a monitor just for yourself, then the angle does not play a big role. But now LCD monitors are more and more used for watching movies, and you don't want to watch movies alone. In this case, this factor is important, because a large viewing angle will allow you to see the image on the screen not only opposite the screen, but also from the side of it. Currently, the largest viewing angle is 178 degrees.

Screen resolution. The standard resolution is 1280: 1024, but the higher it is, the better the image you will see.

Electricity consumption. This is quite an important characteristic of a monitor for budget-conscious users, because the more economical your LCD (LCD) monitor, the less you will have to pay for electricity.
