Liquid crystal monitors (LCDs) have entered practically every home with a PC. They became available both in terms of assortment and in terms of cost. However, the choice of such a monitor must be approached, starting not only from its appearance, but also from more essential characteristics.

Determine what exactly you need an LCD screen for. The required set of parameters (functionality) of the monitor will also depend on this. There are a number of characteristics that determine the features of the monitor: screen size, contrast and brightness indicators, matrix response time, viewing angle, dot pitch, additional features, security.
Step 2
The size of the LCD monitor depends on your preference and needs. For games and watching movies, choose a larger screen - 20-24 diagonal, and a 19-inch monitor is quite convenient for work. Pay attention to the type of screen cover: anti-glare coatings are good to use when there is bright light or sunlight near the monitor. The glossy finish is ideal for those who prefer visual clarity and vibrancy.
Step 3
When buying a monitor, inquire about the brightness level of the selected model. The higher it is, the better the viewing quality. The minimum brightness is considered to be 270 cd / m2, and the contrast ratio is 500: 1.
Step 4
Matrix response is a parameter responsible for the pixel switching rate. For dynamic images to be well perceived in games and films, the maximum response rate of the matrix should not be higher than 8 ms. The lower the value of this parameter, the better the monitor. The same goes for the dot pitch (minimum distance between pixels), which determines the image quality. The lower the digital value of this parameter, the better the image. Choose a monitor in increments of 0, 20-0, 26 mm.
Step 5
Among the additional features of the LCD screen, one can single out the presence of a built-in headset (speakers or TV tuner) and a USB hub, the ability to connect to a computer via DVI. The monitor must also meet all safety criteria. There are two well-known standards for LCD screens - MPR and TCO. More stringent safety requirements for TCO-certified monitors.

Since the technology of creating liquid crystal screens is very difficult, in some cases it is not possible to do without defects in the form of "broken" pixels (non-working). Therefore, always test your monitor before deciding which model to use.
