If two or more operating systems are installed on the computer, selection menus appear at startup. In the event that the user is not satisfied with the menu options, you can change them or completely disable the OS selection at boot.

Step 1
Decide if there really is a need to disable Windows selection. The presence of two or more operating systems on a computer significantly increases the safety of information. For example, if the main OS stops loading after a serious failure, you can always load the backup operating system, save important files, and calmly start restoring the system.
Step 2
To disable the selection of the operating system, open: "Start" - "Control Panel" - "System" or right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select "Properties" from the context menu. In the window that opens, open the "Advanced" tab, then find the "Startup and Recovery" section and click the "Options" button. Remove the checkbox from the line "Display a list of operating systems". Click OK.
Step 3
If you decide not to disable OS selection, set the selection time to 3 seconds in the "Display a list of operating systems" line. Three seconds is enough to choose an OS, while there is no need to wait for the default 30 seconds or press Enter. In the field "Operating system loaded by default", select the OS, which should be started at boot. This will save you from having to select the OS with the keys.
Step 4
Sometimes a situation arises when, when configuring boot parameters in Windows XP, they are not saved, and nothing changes at system startup. Most likely, you have Windows 7 installed on the second system. In this case, boot this OS and change the necessary boot settings in it.
Step 5
Never disable the "Show recovery options" menu item. It comes in handy if the system refuses to boot. In this case, press F8 at startup, in the window that opens, select the "Load the last good configuration" item. In many cases, this will help restore the operating system.
