The answer is not always obvious and simple, so let's figure out in which cases it is possible to replace the monitor with a TV, and in which it is impossible.
Is it possible?
This is technically possible. A TV is essentially the same monitor, only with different characteristics. However, you must understand that not every TV is suitable as a monitor.
First of all, the TV must have a connector that your video card supports. This is usually VGA, but if you want to get the best image quality, it is better to use hdmi, and there may be problems with its availability.
Typically, the TV is used as an additional monitor, so you need another cable.
TV selection
As already mentioned, not every TV can be used as a monitor. It often happens that you want to get a better and more saturated image, so that the game pleases or the movie looks better, but in the end it only turns out worse.
This is due to the fact that TVs with a large diagonal often have a small resolution. In this case, the picture will be very grainy and the large diagonal will spoil the image even more.
Based on this, you need to choose a TV with a resolution of at least Full HD, that is, 1920x1080. In this case, the diagonal should be in the region of 19-25 inches. If you want a large TV, then look at the resolution, it should also be larger.
Connection and configuration
It doesn't matter if you have a computer or a laptop, the setup will be the same. So you've connected your TV, what do you do next? If you connected it to a computer without a monitor, then the setup should go through automatically. The computer will see the new display device and connect it programmatically.
After that, make the standard settings that you need, adjust the brightness, size of labels and other little things. You can use it for health.
If you connected the TV as a second monitor, then you need to set it up manually. Right-click on the desktop and go to "Screen Resolution".
Here you need to choose which of the monitors will be the main, and which will be additional, as well as determine the options for using the screens. We select "Expand these screens". Now you can drag any window to your TV screen!
