In both amateur and professional photography, there are good and bad shots. One of the most common defects present in many images is blurring of various parts of the image. Blurring can appear due to the rapid movement of objects in the frame, insufficient sharpness, or even a banal tremor of the photographer's hands. Fortunately, such defects are no longer a problem, since anyone can improve the clarity of digital photos using modern graphic editors.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the image in the GIMP editor. To do this, press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O. You can also select the "File" item in the main menu, and then the "Open …" drop-down menu item. In the "Open Image" dialog that appears, specify the location of your photo or picture. To do this, in the "Locations" list, select the device on which the image is located, and in the list with the file structure - the directory in which it is stored. Double click on the image file, or select it and click the "Open" button.

Step 2

Activate the image sharpening filter. Select the menu items "Filters", "Enhance", "Sharpen …". The "Sharpening" dialog will open.

Step 3

Improve the clarity of the image. In the "Sharpen" filter control dialog, set the "Sharpness" field to an acceptable value. Experiment with this value. For a faster and more convenient change of the field value, use the slider and the "Spin Box" control located nearby. Check the "View" box to observe the changes made by the filter. In order to process the entire image with a filter with the selected parameters, click the "OK" button in the dialog.

Step 4

Save the modified image. Select the "File" and "Save As …" menu items, or press the Shift + Ctrl + S keys. Specify a new filename and, if necessary, a new save path. Also, in the file save dialog, you can specify the format in which the image will be saved. Click the "Save" button to write the data to disk.
