Computer games with riddles and puzzles, called quests, are not the most popular genre in the gaming industry. But even among games of this kind, there are pearls that fans of various game genres, regardless of gender and age, are not averse to playing.
Foreign quests
One of the most popular quests, especially in Russia, is Siberia. The game, created by French developers, was able to convey the Russian atmosphere, which was very important, and all the puzzles are very harmoniously woven into the plot.
The very idea of "Siberia" - the search for mammoths, these extinct animals, makes together with the heroes of the game experience such feelings as skepticism, disappointment, hope and keeps waiting for a solution until the very end, which takes place in the next part of the game, which is called "Siberia. 2 ".
The well-known quest "Endless Journey" - the result of the work of Norwegian developers - just like "Siberia", has two parts, but they are practically not connected with each other. Events in them develop mainly in parallel worlds, one of which is technological, and in the other, magic prevails.
For fans of detective stories, there is a unique series of quests that tells the story of the adventures of a young girl detective Nancy Drew. The peculiarity of the series is that by 2014 the twenty-ninth part of this quest had already been released, which rarely happens in the gaming industry.
Domestic quests
Russian quest developers do not pamper players with quality products, but there are several games that cannot leave indifferent domestic consumers.
Out of competition here will be the famous series of quests "Petka and Vasily Ivanovich". Games in this series are distinguished by one hundred percent Russian humor, parodies of famous people and films, and from time to time - rather complex puzzles.
Another line of quests that has appeared on the Russian market in the past few years are games based on the cartoons of the Melnitsa studio, in which the adventures of three Russian heroes - Alyosha Popovich, Dobrynya Nikitich and Ilya Muromets - are played out. Despite the cartoonish art, thanks to their humor and non-trivial riddles, these games can be a good pastime.
Old school quests
It is impossible not to mention the pioneer game of this direction, which subsequently gave rise to many similar projects. This is the legendary MYST, a series of games that came out from 1993 to 2005 inclusive. Despite the fact that it is quite difficult to run most of the games in this series on modern computers, at one time MYST made a real revolution in the quest genre and set the direction for the development of such games for years to come.
