Restoring the Windows Vista operating system from a hidden partition is a distinctive feature of modern laptops. When carrying out this operation, remember that restoration is possible only to the state of the factory settings.
Instructions
Step 1
A laptop hard drive usually contains one hidden partition, which is several gigabytes in size. The contents of such a section are the boot store configuration files and the OC loader itself. The purpose of such a partition is to enter the recovery environment, the image of which is located in the Recovery folder. The hidden section does not appear in Windows Explorer.
Step 2
Pay attention to the prerequisites for automatically creating a hidden partition intended to enter the recovery environment:
- Windows Vista must be loaded from external media;
- there should be no more than two partitions on the main hard disk;
- the installation must be performed on an unallocated volume partition.
Step 3
When you press certain function keys, programs are launched that unpack a copy of the installed OC Vista to the system partition. You must specify the selected option for system recovery and follow the instructions of the wizard. The procedure is almost completely automated and requires almost no user interaction.
Step 4
Please note that the contents of the system partition (usually the C: / drive) will be completely deleted during the recovery process and overwritten by the backup copy to the state of the factory settings.
Step 5
Reboot the computer system and use the required function key to enter the BIOS:
- F8 - for Fujitsu Siemens and Toshiba;
- F9 - for Asus;
- F10 - for Sony and Packard Bell;
- F11 - for MSI and HP;
- alt="Image" - for Rover;
- Alt + F10 - for Acer;
- Ctrl + F11 - for Dell.
Please note that Acer notebooks require D2D function in Bios to be enabled in advance and use the default password 000000.
Step 6
It is recommended to create backups of user documents on removable media in order to be able to restore them after reinstalling Windows Vista from a hidden partition.
