When working with text, the user may need to swap sentences or whole paragraphs, or arrange fragments in some non-standard way. There are several ways to move a block of text in Microsoft Office Word.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the block of text you want to move. This can be done using the left mouse button or a keyboard shortcut. The combination of Shift and left / right arrow keys on the keyboard allows you to select one printable character, up / down arrows - one line. Ctrl, Shift, and right / left arrow will highlight a word, while using the up or down arrows to select an entire paragraph.
Step 2
After the desired fragment is selected, move the cursor to it and press the left mouse button. Keeping it pressed, drag the block of text to the location of the document that you want. Release the mouse button.
Step 3
Another option: select the block and click on the selection with the right mouse button. In the drop-down menu, select the "Cut" command, - a piece of text will be placed on the clipboard. Place the cursor where you want to move the block and right-click again. In the context menu, select the "Paste" command.
Step 4
Commands can also be called from the keyboard. The shortcut keys Ctrl and X allow you to cut the desired piece of text, and the keys Ctrl and V - to paste it somewhere else in the document. You can also use the buttons on the toolbar on the "Home" tab for this.
Step 5
If you placed the text using the Text Box tool, you need to proceed differently. In this case, the text is placed in the specified area, which has borders. To move such a block, select not the text itself, but the frame around it, and then drag this frame to the place you need while holding down the left mouse button. The text within the borders is an integral part of the "Text Box" object, it will move with the frame.
Step 6
When working with text in table cells, any of the options described will do. It all depends on the specific conditions: sometimes it is necessary to move only the text part, sometimes - a cell or several adjacent cells.
