Instructions

Step 1

Make sure the removable drive is recognized as a hard drive in the system and format the USB drive to FAT32 (if necessary).

Step 2

Insert the Windows XP installation disc into the drive and restart the computer with the drive set as the primary boot device in the BIOS.

Step 3

Begin the installation of the operating system by specifying the installation to a USB drive without changing the system.

Step 4

Wait until the installation files are copied and automatically rebooted.

Step 5

Turn off your computer and boot from the hard drive without disconnecting the removable drive.

Step 6

Download the FlashBootXP archive and unzip the contents to a temporary folder.

Step 7

Press the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Run" item.

Enter regedit in the Open box and click OK.

Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry branch and select the Load Hive command in the File menu of the Registry Editor application window.
