The Windows operating system allows you to customize how files and folders are displayed. Thanks to this, you can make any folder invisible to users. At the same time, it will not disappear anywhere from the computer and will be available for working with the files it contains.

Instructions

Step 1

To create an invisible folder, you must assign an appropriate attribute to it and set options that prohibit the display of hidden folders. First, create a regular folder or select an existing one. Right-click on its icon and select Properties from the drop-down menu.

Step 2

A new window will open. Go to the "General" tab and find the "Attributes" field. Set a marker in the "Hidden" field and save the parameters selected for the folder by clicking on the "Apply" or OK button.

Step 3

If you are working with a folder containing nested subfolders, an additional window may appear with a specification - apply the attributes only to the main folder or also to all attachments. Select the answer you want and click OK.

Step 4

The folder may disappear immediately or become translucent. If you can still see your folder, then you need to customize its display options. To do this, open any folder on your computer and select "Folder Options" from the "Tools" menu.

Step 5

In the dialog box that opens, go to the "View" tab. In the "Advanced options" box, scroll down the list and find "Hidden files and folders". Set the marker opposite the "Do not show hidden files and folders" value. Click the OK or Apply button for the new settings to take effect.

Step 6

To make the folder visible again, repeat the described steps in reverse order: first configure the display of hidden files and folders, and then uncheck the "Hidden" attribute in the properties of the folder itself.
