When using the Microsoft Office Word 2007 text editor, each word that does not fit on the current line is automatically wrapped to the next line. This is very convenient because there is no confusion with hyphens and hyphens. But when the question arises about the economical use of paper, you should activate the hyphenation option.

Instructions

Step 1

Of course, transfers can be done with your own hands, but this slows down the overall work in the editor - it is better to use automatic transfer. Hand hyphenation can cause word breaks, resulting in the broken words being underlined with red squiggles. When manually hyphenating words, MS Word 2007 searches for hyphenated words, but still does not cover some words, especially those that are not known to the program's dictionary.

Step 2

To activate the automatic hyphenation function, you need to go to the "Page layout" tab in the main program window. In the "Page settings" group, check the box "Hyphenation", check the "Auto" item.

Step 3

Also, there is a new possibility of word transfer - "soft transfer". This feature became active in the latest versions of Microsoft Office, starting with the 2007 version. The essence of this hyphenation is the correct division of a word when it is wrapped on another line. For example, the word "turtle" when using "soft transfer" will look like "skull - groin". Without the use of soft transfer technology, the word could look like this - "skull-ha".

Step 4

To turn on the soft transfer display function, go to the Home tab. In the "Paragraph" group, activate the item "Hide / Show". Place the cursor where you would like to see "soft hyphenation" in the word. Press the key combination Ctrl + hyphen.

Step 5

To activate the automatic hyphenation function in a certain part of your document, you need to select the text that you would like to see hyphenated. Go to the "Page Layout" tab, select the "Hyphenation" item (the "Parameters" group), then select the "Auto" value.
