A broken printer can be a serious hindrance to work and study - especially if you regularly print any documents and files. If, in the event of serious breakdowns, the printer needs to be taken to an authorized service center by specialists, then in some less serious cases you can fix the faulty printer at home.

Step 1
Among the common causes of malfunctions in printers, banal contamination of the mechanism is very common. Remember to lubricate the printer with electronic grease and rinse with distilled water. Do not use alcohol to clean printers. For cleaning, you also need screwdrivers, cotton swabs, and a foam sponge.
Step 2
If the printer carriage knocks against the edges of the cabinet while printing and the print is uneven, you may need to clean the ruler that adjusts the correct carriage travel. Open the printer cover and remove the carriage by bending the clips.
Step 3
Remember exactly how the ruler was installed in the printer case, and remove it by first pulling out the right end of the ruler and then the left. Use a foam sponge to rinse the ruler in warm soapy water, without touching it with your hands in the areas of the marked marks for orienting the carriage.
Step 4
Wipe the carriage with a dry cloth and leave it to dry out flat. The ruler should be clean and transparent. Reattach one end of the dried ruler to the printer by passing the left end through the carriage. Secure the right end. Close the printer, turn it on and check for correct operation.
Step 5
Also, the reason for the incorrect printing may be hidden in the incorrect tension of the toothed belt, which is put on the motor gear on the right side and on the spring gear on the left side. Check how good the spring is and whether it has fallen out of its groove. Remove the belt from the gear and release the spring. Stretch it slightly, reinstall the spring, put the belt back in, and turn on the printer.
Step 6
If the printer tears the paper during operation, the spindle may lose its horizontal position. Disassemble the printer body and remove the carriage ruler. Remove the toothed belts from the gears and examine the print roller from the rear.
Step 7
Unscrew the screws from the ends of the shaft and remove it while holding the carriage. Wash the shaft and toothed belt in warm water. Use a cotton swab to remove any dirt from the carriage-shaft joint. Reassemble the mechanism and set it up. Lubricate the shaft with special grease and slide the carriage over it to smear it over the entire surface.
Step 8
If the printer does not pick up paper, remove any greasy deposits from the rubber rollers and the insert at the bottom of the output tray.
