Over time, the DVD drive starts to read discs worse and worse. Most often this is due to clogging of the lens of the drive, through which the required amount of light does not penetrate. To get the drive back to normal operation, clean this lens, and you can do it yourself.
Necessary
Soft fine brush, largest diameter cocktail straw, soft contact lens rinse fluid
Instructions
Step 1
Remove and disassemble the DVD drive by loosening the mounting bolts and loosening the fasteners. Hold the cocktail straw close to the drive head and gently, resting it on the head near the lens, suck in the dust between the lens and its mount. Be extremely careful, any contact with the lens can result in misalignment and damage to the drive. In no case do not blow into the straw, the scattered dust, mixed with moisture from the breath, will firmly adhere to the head.
Step 2
Use a small, clean, dry container, such as a plastic bottle cork. After draining the container, do not reach into it with your hands. Pour soft contact lens care liquid into it. Dip the brush into the container and run it over the lens. It is best to do this in the direction of rotation of the disc. Fluid should flood the lens, but not enter the drive head. Then wait 5 minutes for the dirt accumulated in the lens to dissolve in the liquid. After that, once again run a dry, but still damp, brush over the lens, finally removing the dirt.
Step 3
Dry the lens. To do this, dip the brush in liquid and rinse it there. Then shake it sharply in the air. With a clean and almost dry brush, brush over the lens, and it will suck in excess moisture along with debris. Repeat this procedure until the lens is visually dry (you can use a magnifying glass). Cover the DVD drive with a clean paper (not cloth) tissue. After 15 minutes, lift the tissue and carefully examine the lens. If plaque remains on it, breathe on the lens, then wipe it with a dry brush, doing this in a circular motion until the plaque disappears. After that, cover the drive again with a napkin and wait 15 minutes (this is to be sure). Assemble the DVD drive and install into your computer.
