Instructions

Step 1

Symbols are inserted into a Microsoft Office Word document in different ways. Some characters ($, &, # and so on) can be entered from the keyboard. To insert other characters that are not on the keyboard keys, you must use the editor functions. Go to the "Insert" tab, in the "Symbols" section, click on the "Ω" button labeled "Symbol" at the top right of the screen. In the drop-down window, click on the "Other Symbols" item. Next, in the window that opens, select the symbol you need and click the "Insert" button. Close the window.

Step 2

You can also remove characters in different ways. If you need to remove any character (or typed character) in front of the cursor from the document, press the BackSpase key (the long arrow key at the top right of the main keyboard area). If you want to delete the character after the cursor, press the Delete key (right side of the keyboard).

Step 3

In the event that you need to remove a part of the text, select the desired fragment by holding down the left mouse button or using the Ctrl, Shift and arrow keys. Press the Delete or BackSpase key. If you are going to enter other text instead of the erasable one, you can immediately start typing - the selected fragment will be deleted automatically when you enter the first character. To delete characters located in different parts of the text, select them with the mouse while holding down the Ctrl key, then delete them in the usual way.

Step 4

In Microsoft Office Word document, there is an option to hide and show hidden formatting characters. Paragraph marks in text are displayed as “” and spaces are displayed as “•” characters. They are visible only in the electronic version of the document, but they are not printed. To remove hidden formatting and paragraph marks, go to the Home tab. In the "Paragraph" section, click on the "¶" button.
