There are two ways to make one page landscape in Word and another in portrait. The first method is suitable if you need to place certain text on a page with an orientation that is different from the orientation of pages throughout the document. The second method is suitable if you need to make different page orientations in the entire document in advance.

Method one: change page orientation with text selection

To make one page with text in landscape orientation in a document among portrait pages, you must do the following:

  1. Select the text that should be on the page in landscape orientation.
  2. On the toolbar, select the "Page Layout" tab.
  3. Click on the small arrow icon with a corner - it is located to the right of the "Page settings" caption.
  4. In the window that opens, select the landscape orientation and click the "OK" button.
  5. After these steps, the text that was selected will be transferred to the page with landscape orientation.

Method two: complete markup of a multi-page document

To make different page orientations throughout the document, you must:

  1. Create the required number of pages in advance. To do this, select "Blank Page" on the "Insert" tab.
  2. Select the required page by placing the cursor in the upper left corner of the sheet.
  3. Then you need to call the "Page Settings" window by clicking on the small icon in the form of an arrow with a corner, which is located on the "Page Layout" tab.
  4. In the "Page setup" window that opens, you must select the landscape orientation, and in the "Apply" item, set the "Until the end of document" option from the list.
  5. For the changes to take effect, you need to click the "OK" button in the "Page Setup" window.

For example, if of eight pages of a document, the third has been changed from portrait to landscape, then all pages 3 through 8 will be in landscape orientation.

If, out of eight pages, only the third and seventh pages should have landscape orientation, then it is necessary to return the portrait orientation to pages 4 through 6, as well as 8.

To do this, again you need to place the cursor on the desired page, in this case it is page 4. Then open the "Page settings" window and set the portrait orientation and "To the end of the document" there. After clicking on the "OK" button, pages 4 to 8 will be in portrait orientation.

Then, in the same way, having selected page 7 with the cursor, through the window "Page settings" you need to change the orientation from portrait to landscape. After that, in the same way, you need to return page 8 to portrait orientation by selecting the appropriate settings in the "Page settings".

Thus, an eight-page document will have portrait orientation on pages 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8, and landscape orientation on pages 3 and 7.

If necessary, this method can be used to alternate pages with different orientations.
