In the Microsoft Windows operating system, the “Desktop” is organized in such a way that the user can quickly and comfortably call various applications, obtain the necessary information, and access computer resources. The "taskbar" is an important element of the "desktop", the correct setting of which can enable the user to work on the computer.

Instructions

Step 1

The taskbar is located at the bottom of the screen by default (if you have configured other settings, it may also be at other edges). If you cannot see the panel, then it is hidden. To open the "Taskbar", move the mouse cursor to the bottom edge of the screen and wait for it to "pop up".

Step 2

In order not to have to wait for the "Taskbar" to appear every time, you need to set the appropriate settings. To do this, right-click in any free space of the "Taskbar", in the drop-down menu, select "Properties" by clicking on it with the left mouse button, - the dialog box "Properties of the taskbar and the Start menu" will open.

Step 3

If you cannot access the "Taskbar" in this way, press the Windows button on the keyboard (the button with a checkbox) - the panel will stop disappearing. Call the desired properties window as described above, or go to the "Control Panel", in the "Appearance and Themes" category, select the "Taskbar and Start Menu" icon.

Step 4

In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Taskbar" tab and uncheck the "Automatically hide the taskbar" checkbox. Click the "Apply" button for the new settings to take effect, close the properties window (the OK button or the X icon in the upper right corner of the window).

Step 5

On the left side of the "Taskbar" there is a "Start" button, with the help of which there is a quick access to various resources of the computer. To the left of the button there is an area that is commonly called the quick launch bar - the icons of the applications located in it allow you to call frequently used applications with one click of the mouse. The right side of the taskbar is called the notification area. It contains information about applications that start automatically at system startup, icons for connected devices and removable drives.

Step 6

To add an application to the "Quick Launch", select the application launcher icon, hold down the left mouse button and drag it to the panel. To adjust the size of the "Quick Launch", right-click on the "Taskbar", in the drop-down menu, remove the marker from the item "Dock the taskbar". Adjust the size of the panel with the mouse and pin the "Taskbar" again. To add applications to the right side of the Taskbar, place the required startup files in the Startup folder.
