The Windows main menu is used to access most of the utilities and applications installed on the operating system. It contains commands for shutting down, and in recent versions, and a window for entering a search query. The appearance of this Windows GUI element can change, but the way you access it remains the same, regardless of the appearance and the version of the system you are using.
Instructions
Step 1
Left-click on the "Start" button located on the taskbar to open the main menu of the operating system. The taskbar is a strip along one side of the desktop. By default, the bottom side is used - in this case, the "Start" button should be found at the left edge of the panel. It is possible to move the taskbar to any other edge of the screen. When placed vertically, the "Start" will be at the top edge of the panel. In the latest versions of the OS, this button is not labeled "Start" by default.
Step 2
If the taskbar along with the main menu access button is not visible on the screen, move the mouse cursor one by one to each side of the desktop. This panel can work in "hidden" mode, that is, it appears only when you move the cursor to it, and the rest of the time it remains outside the area of the desktop visible on the screen.
Step 3
Press one of the two win buttons located on the keyboard in the bottom row - this action should also lead to the disclosure of the main menu of the system, regardless of whether you see the start button on the screen.
Step 4
If both of the above methods do not open the main menu, then perhaps one of the operating system services that is responsible for this function is not working. You can try to force the corresponding OS element to start. To do this, press the key combination ctrl + alt="Image" + delete and in the task manager window that opens, find the "New task" button at the bottom of the "Applications" tab - click on it to open the programs launch dialog.
Step 5
Enter the explorer command and click the "OK" button or press the Enter key. Launching this program should restore the normal functioning of the access button to the main menu of the operating system.
