Among the many video file formats, a new, more advanced and high-quality encoding method has appeared - MKV. MKV is a project aimed at creating an open, flexible and cross-platform multimedia file format. It is also called Matryoshka. The project provides for the development of three different types of files; these are MKV for video files, mka for audio files and mks for subtitles.
Instructions
Step 1
Start your acquaintance with Matryoshka with MKVmerge GUI and its add-on MKVExtract GUI, which you may need if you want to decompose an MKV file into its components, as well as BeLight, which allows you to transcode sound into AAC.
Step 2
So, run the program and, by clicking the "add" button, select the main movie file. Then, by pressing the same button again, load the audio file and / or subtitles.
Step 3
Fill in the "Track Title" and "Language" fields in Latin characters, you can remove the tick from the built-in English subtitles - there is no need for those who will watch the film in Russian.
Step 4
In the field "Track by default" opposite to the Russian track you can put "Yes" if you want to make it the default. Otherwise, playback will start in another language, and you will have to switch to Russian manually.
Step 5
Next, in the "Output file" line, specify where the MKV file will be located. Then press the "Start" button and, if no mistakes were made, patiently wait for the end of the repackaging of the container now with two tracks.
Step 6
Just in case, run the resulting file and see if the Russian audio track fits the video. At this stage, it may become out of sync, unless the source of the track's receipt guarantees that it is specially tailored for this particular film release. If the desynchronization at the beginning and end of the movie is the same, then you can try to correct the situation in a fairly simple way, using the program's ability to set the delay for a specific audio track.
