The audio power amplifiers, made as separate units, are designed so that they can be connected to any suitable third-party speakers. They are equipped with special terminals that allow the connection of cables without the use of plugs.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a cable of sufficient size to connect the speakers to the amplifier. First, measure the impedance of the speaker with a conventional ohmmeter, without touching the terminals and probes to avoid self-induction voltages. Find out from the instructions for the amplifier or from the information on its back wall, how much power it develops with a load with such resistance. If it is indicated that the impedance of your speakers for the amplifier is too low, use others.
Step 2
Calculate the current that will flow through the cable. To do this, use the following relationships: U = IR; U = P / I, hence P / I = IR, P = (I ^ 2) R, I ^ 2 = P / R, therefore: I = sqrt (P / R), where I is the current in the cable, A, P - amplifier output power, W, R - speaker impedance, Ohm.
Step 3
Be sure to use a copper and stranded cable. Practice shows that special expensive speaker cables improve the sound only slightly, so if you are not an audiophile, use a regular cable available from a wiring store. Select its section in accordance with the table: https://www.eti.su/articles/kabel-i-provod/kabel-i-provod_32.html. Measure the distances from the amplifier to each speaker in advance. In the store, ask to cut the cable with some margin in length.
Step 4
On each side, strip both cable cores to a length of about 8 mm, then tin it so that the conductors better hold in the terminals of the terminal blocks. Mark the insulation of one of the cores with a red felt-tip pen on both sides (to find the opposite end of the same core, use an ohmmeter). If the wire insulation is colored, there is no need to label the wires.
Step 5
De-energize the amplifier. To insert the conductor into the terminal block, pull the plastic lever away from the conductor hole, insert the conductor, and then push the lever back into place. Using the labels or insulation colors, depending on the cable type, connect the red and black amplifier terminals to the same colored speaker terminals. If the polarity is reversed, the speaker will not deteriorate, but the stereo effect may noticeably deteriorate or the volume may drop.
Step 6
After connecting both speakers, turn on the amplifier and the desired component of the stereo complex, and then check the operation of the speakers.
