The speakers built into the laptop can sound very loud, but poorly convey bass. Therefore, in stationary conditions, it is better to connect a laptop to an external amplifier. The connection method depends on the amplifier model.

Instructions

Step 1

To make the cable according to the first method, take a stereo jack plug with a diameter of 3.5 mm and two shielded wires. Solder the braids of both wires to the common terminal of the connector. Connect the central core of one of them to the contact corresponding to the left channel, the other to the contact corresponding to the right channel.

Step 2

The second way is to use old headphones from the player. Cut off the sound emitters from them, and strip and tin the ends of the wires. Conductors coated with a colorless or yellow varnish are common, a wire coated with blue or green varnish corresponds to the left channel, and red - to the right channel. Repair this cable if necessary.

Step 3

If your amplifier has RCA (cinch) input jacks, use two appropriate plugs. Connect the sleeves of both shielded wires or the white or yellow wires of the headphone cable to the ring contacts of the plugs. Solder the center conductor of one of the shielded wires or the blue or green lead of the headphone cord to the pin of one of the plugs, the center conductor of the other shielded wire, or the red wire of the headphone cable to the pin of the other plug.

Step 4

If the amplifier is equipped with a five-pin DIN (ONTs-VG) input jack, only one of this type of plug will have to be installed on the opposite end of the cable. Solder the common conductors of the cable made in any of the ways to the middle pin of the connector. If the amplifier was manufactured before 1984, connect the conductors corresponding to the stereo channels to the pins of the connector located to the left of the middle (when viewed from the soldering side, turning the connector with the notch down, and the middle terminal up). In case the amplifier was released after 1984 inclusive, solder the wires corresponding to the channels to the contacts located to the right of the middle one.

Step 5

Isolate all connections and assemble connectors.

Step 6

De-energize the amplifier. Connect the cable to the headphone output of your laptop and the amplifier input with the worst sensitivity. Use the switch to select this input. If the amplifier does not have insensitive inputs, in series with the cable conductors corresponding to the stereo channels, you will have to turn on a 10 kilo-ohm resistor.

Step 7

Set the volume on both the computer and the amplifier to the minimum. Only now turn on the power to the amplifier.

Step 8

Play any audio file on your laptop. Slowly turn up the volume on both hearing aids until a sound is heard. Adjust the ratio between the volume controls on the computer and the amplifier so that distortion is least noticeable.
