The sound of cheap plastic speakers does not suit you, but there is no way to buy an expensive speaker system yet? And then you notice that in the closet there are 2 old speakers standing and gathering dust, which once sounded very good, and an amplifier. Connect them. Another plug? How to make a connection in this case, we will consider further.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your speakers and amplifier for use. If they have not been used for a long time, then at least they are covered with dust - rub them. Find all the power cords and patch cords from the amplifier and speakers, connect them together. Typically, the wiring diagram is fairly simple. From the amplifier, one wire goes to the network and two separately to each speaker. Do not connect speakers to the amplifier when it is turned on.
Step 2
Find the jack on the back of the speaker for connecting to an amplifier. Insert the plug into it. Insert the other end of the connection wire into one of the amplifier channels. You can find the required inputs on the rear panel. Plug the amplifier into a power outlet and press the "On" button.
Step 3
Check the operation of the amplifier to connect old speakers to the computer. Connect your old player, tape recorder or turntable to it. The main thing here is to check if the signal is coming and if it is transmitted without distortion. This is necessary in order not to burn the sound card of your personal computer. The performance of the amplifier and speakers can also be checked by using a bare wire at one end that is inserted into the amplifier input. This will show the background level and if there is any at all, but it is better to connect a player.
Step 4
Make an adapter cord. As a rule, in old amplifiers, the input is "five-finger". Your sound card has a mini-jack input. You need to make a cord so that you can connect an amplifier and old speakers. To do this, you need a shielded two-wire cable and two plugs - a minijack and a five-finger one. Solder them on opposite ends of the wire.
Step 5
If you don't have such talents, go to the radio market and order a similar adapter there. You will hardly be able to find it in the store, since the five-finger connector has not been used for quite a long time.
Step 6
Connect the minijack to the output of your sound card, and the five-finger to the input of the amplifier. Run an audio track on your computer and adjust the sound on the amplifier itself. Adjust volume, tone, balance, etc. It is not difficult to connect such a system to a computer if you have all the necessary commutation. Turn the volume down completely each time you turn off the amplifier.
