Re-flashing the modem may be necessary to solve problems that arise during its operation. As a rule, if these problems are found, the manufacturer releases a new firmware and uploads it to its server.

Step 1
Before reflashing the D-link DSL 2540u modem, you need to find out the hardware revision of this modem. It comes in four types, depending on the model's release date. To identify it correctly, look at the modem's label affixed to the bottom. The hardware revision code is written on a line starting with the characters H / W ver. Letters and numbers after H / V ver. are the hardware revision code of the product. They can be as follows: A1, D1, C1.
Step 2
After determining the hardware revision, you will need to find out the type of line supported by the modem. This information is encrypted in the batch number of the modem, which is also written on the label. The batch number line starts with P / N characters. If the number ends with the BRU1C1 character set, then the modem supports the Annex A line, if CB1. C1 - the Annex B line. Knowing this information, proceed to select the firmware that is available on the official ftp server of D-Link.
Step 3

Step 4
To flash the modem, open your browser and go to https://192.168.1.1. In the fields "login" and "password" enter the word admin. The modem interface will open. Find the Software Update tab and open it. Then click on the "Browse" button and specify the path to the downloaded firmware in the file manager, then click the "update" button. During the upgrade, do not turn off the power or otherwise interrupt the flashing. After a few minutes, the modem will reboot and the new firmware will be installed in it.
