Very often, users of various computer programs come across terms that are not explained anywhere. One of these is "crop" (crop) - a command that pops up in some photo editors.
The first of the existing values is to crop or crop part of the photo. It often happens that when shooting, it is not possible to perfectly align the composition. And the details get into the frame that distract attention from the main plot. To get rid of them, cropping is applied. If in film photography, cropping took place in the process of printing a frame, then in the age of digital technology this is already the lot of photo editors. As a rule, in them you select the frame tool, which allows you to select a rectangular area in the image. And after selecting this area, you are offered to do a crop, that is, cut out the selection. You can save this part of the drawing as an independent image. Some photo editors offer you to crop out entire objects, such as people or other shapes, and place them on a different background. Cropping can be used not only to improve the composition and remove unnecessary elements from the frame, but also to reduce the weight of the photo. An image file size of more than 2-3 megabytes is inconvenient to use. In particular, such files are difficult to send to other users, as their download can take up to several minutes. By cropping the frame and removing unnecessary information, you will automatically reduce the file size. To analyze the quality of a particular digital photo, you can apply a pixel-by-pixel crop. A part of the frame is selected, cropped out and enlarged so that each pixel of the screen corresponds to a pixel of the photo. In this case, you can see all the shortcomings of the shot. The second meaning of the word "crop" is found no longer in computer programs, but in the technical characteristics of modern digital cameras. The crop factor is the reduction factor that could be obtained on a 35 mm film in relation to the frame of a digital camera. As a rule, the edges of the possible image are cropped on the digital matrix. For this factor, cameras differ.
