When working on a laptop, it is often necessary to increase its brightness. For example, on a sunny day outdoors - to improve the clarity of the image. But keep in mind that increasing the screen brightness always increases the power consumption, and thus significantly reduces the battery life of the laptop.

Instructions

Step 1

To increase the brightness of the screen, click the "Start" button, then sequentially select the sections "Control Panel", "System and Security" and, finally, "Power Options". At the bottom of the screen you will see the "Screen brightness" parameter, you need to move the slider located next to it to the desired and convenient position for you. This will automatically change the brightness.

Step 2

It may happen that the computer does not support this format of monitor settings (or they are outdated), therefore, you need to update the drivers. Usually they are included on a disc when buying a laptop, or they can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

Step 3

Examine the keyboard carefully and find the Fn key in the lower left corner, and the F1, F2, F3 keys, etc. in the row above the row with numbers. One of these F-keys has an image of the sun with a down arrow, and some with an up arrow. In some models, instead of the sun, there may be a lamp, and instead of arrows, the signs + and -. Hold down the Fn key and the key with the picture and the corresponding arrow at the same time - the brightness on your laptop should change in the direction you need.

Step 4

Please note that many laptops are initially set to different brightness settings when running on battery and mains power. This is done so that when disconnected from the network, the economy mode is automatically turned on.

Step 5

If you are not satisfied with these settings, you can set them as you like. To do this, click the "Start" button, then sequentially select the sections "Control Panel", "System and Security" and, after that, "Power". In the "Select a power plan" item, you will find the scheme that you want to change - to do this, click "Configure a power plan". On the page that opens, near the "Screen dimming" subsection, change the time interval for the "Plugged in" and "On battery" parameters and save the changes.

Step 6

In the above way, you will set the same values when operating on battery power and from the mains, and then when you change these modes, the brightness of the monitor will remain the same.
