A properly configured monitor is an important aspect of not only your laptop's performance, but also you and your health and wellness during your workday. Incorrect monitor settings lead to fatigue, headaches, and deterioration of vision. That is why it is so important to be able to correctly select the settings and parameters of your monitor so that your work brings you satisfaction, not problems.

Step 1
First, check in which mode you have configured the screen refresh rate. To do this, right-click anywhere on the desktop and click Properties. In the window that appears, open the "Options" and "Advanced" tabs. You will see the monitor settings window and the phrase "Screen refresh rate". See what options are offered in the dropdown list. You must have the maximum selected (for example, 85 Hz). The laptop only shows the refresh rate it supports by default, so choose the maximum value right away.
Frequency less than 70 Hz is harmful to eyesight and well-being due to excessive flickering of the picture on the screen.
Step 2
Another important aspect of screen setting is contrast and brightness. If an ordinary computer has buttons for adjusting these parameters right on the front panel of the monitor, then they are absent on the laptop screen.
Find the function call key - Fn on the keyboard of your laptop, as well as the keys on which there are additional brightness icons. Most often, a sun and arrows are drawn on them, showing an increase or decrease in brightness. Hold down the Fn key and press the brightness keys, increasing and decreasing it until the result seems comfortable and pleasant to work with.
It is not recommended to choose too low brightness - this will lead to visual strain and will contribute to incorrect display of colors. If your monitor is fine and your laptop is working properly, almost 100% brightness will be the norm.
