Modern computer monitors provide all conditions for comfortable work. Vivid beautiful colors, high contrast and clarity, high resolution. However, their incorrect setting can not only reduce comfort to zero, but also harm your vision.

Step 1
Signs of an incorrectly set resolution can be a disproportionately elongated image, very large or, on the contrary, very small program windows and desktop icons. Depending on the format of the monitor, the optimal resolution is recommended for it, which is indicated by the manufacturer in the operating instructions. Please read this manual carefully and familiarize yourself with the recommended resolution settings for your monitor.
Step 2
Check if your monitor driver is installed. When connected, the system automatically installs the default driver. With such a driver, the monitor can display the picture correctly, but some operating parameters will be unavailable. The required driver can be found on the website of your monitor manufacturer, specifying its model.
Step 3
In Windows 7. Right-click on the desktop, in the menu that opens, click "Screen Resolution". If in the window that appears, in the "Screen" line, there is an inscription "Universal PnP", then the standard driver is installed. Such a driver does not allow full use of the display capabilities. Download and install the driver for your monitor. After that, in the same window in the "Resolution" column, you can set the optimal resolution recommended by the manufacturer. Click Apply, then Apply Changes.
Step 4
In Windows XP. Right-click on the desktop, in the drop-down menu, click "Properties". In the Display Properties window, select the Options tab. If the column "Display" reads "Monitor connection module on …", it means that the default driver is installed on your monitor. Download and install the driver for your display. In the display properties window, on the "Parameters" tab, change the resolution to the required one. Click Apply. Answer “Yes” to the system's question “Do you save changes to the desktop settings”.
