A bootable USB stick is not only a tool for installing an OS. If you write a special antivirus program on it, then with its help you can cure your PC from infection without losing data and without reinstalling the system. Such programs are produced by large companies - Dr. Web, ESET and Kaspersky. These rescue tools are called Dr. Web Live CD / USB, ESET LiveCD and Kaspersky Rescue Disk. They need to be downloaded from the manufacturer's website, after which you can start creating a USB flash drive.
Instructions
Step 1
In the case of Dr. Web Live USB, everything is simple. The flash drive is connected to USB and the downloaded program starts. In the launched window, the desired USB drive is selected, the formatting request is confirmed, and the program does everything by itself.
Step 2
In other cases, you will have to prepare a USB flash drive. Insert the USB stick into the corresponding slot on the PC. Go to the "My Computer" directory. On the icon of the inserted flash drive, right-click, and in the drop-down list go to the "Format" item. The format must be set to FAT32. As a last resort, plain FAT will work if FAT32 does not support it. Wait for the process to finish.
Step 3
You can write an image of an anti-virus disk with an ISO extension using UltraISO, Nero or their freeware counterparts. To do this, launch the software, select the desired ESET, Kaspersky or Dr. Web image and create a bootable USB flash drive through the menu of your software.
Step 4
If you boot from the Dr. Web Live-disk, you can make a bootable USB flash drive with an antivirus program through the built-in graphical menu of the LiveCD.
Step 5
Together with Rescue Disk from Kaspersky and ESET LiveCD, you can download utilities from the site that can create a bootable USB drive. They are called ESET LiveUSB Сreator and Kaspersky Rescue 2 USB. Run the utility corresponding to the selected program. In the window that appears, find the image of the anti-virus disk and your USB flash drive, then click on the "Start" or "Create" button in the same window.
