The Windows operating system is installed on the vast majority of computers. It is comfortable, reliable, and easy enough to learn to work with. Sometimes the user needs to get detailed information on the OS used - in particular, to find out the date of its installation.
Necessary
- - knowledge of Windows capabilities;
- - Aida64 program.
Instructions
Step 1
To find out when the operating system was installed, you need a command line (console). If you are using Windows XP, open: "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "Command Prompt". The black window that appears is the console window.
Step 2
With a command prompt open, enter the systeminfo command and press Enter. A summary of the computer will appear, which will include information about the date the operating system was installed. This option is not only simple, but also convenient, as it allows you to get almost all possible information about the computer in a few seconds.
Step 3
If you are using the Windows 7 operating system, to start the console open: "Start" - "Run", enter the cmd command and click OK. Further, as for Windows XP, use the systeminfo command to get information about the OS installation date.
Step 4
Use specialized programs that monitor the system to obtain information about the date of installation of the operating system. In particular, one of the best applications of this kind is Aida64 (Everest). Install and run the program, select the "Operating system" section. You will receive comprehensive information not only about the OS installation date, but also information about component versions, license information, etc. The program works in both Windows XP and Windows 7.
Step 5
Open the disk with the installed operating system, most often it is the C drive. Next, right-click the Documents and Settings folder or Windows. Select the "Properties" item in the context menu that opens. In the window that opens, pay attention to the line "Created", it will indicate the date of creation of the folder being viewed. As a rule, system folders are created at the same time as Windows is installed, so the folder creation date will correspond to the operating system installation date.
