It is customary to use system recovery discs to disable virus banners. If an advertising window appears on the desktop, then you can try to disable it without using additional programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Reduce the area occupied by the banner ad on your desktop. To do this, increase your screen resolution. Right click on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution" (Windows 7) or "Properties" (Windows XP). Increase your desktop resolution to the maximum and click Apply.
Step 2
Now open Control Panel and navigate to the System and Security menu. Find and open the Backup and Restore submenu. In the right part of the working window, select "Restore system settings or computer". Find and click the "Run System Restore" button.
Step 3
In the window that appears, just click the "Next" button. After opening the menu, which contains the list of checkpoints, check the box next to "Show other restore points". Now highlight the system archive that was created a few days before the viral ad banner appeared. Click the "Next" button and confirm the start of the procedure for restoring system parameters. After a while, the computer will restart and the system will continue the recovery process.
Step 4
If you were unable to access the indicated menus due to the banner, then restart your computer. Hold down the F8 key after it starts loading. Wait until a list appears with options to continue loading the operating system. Highlight Windows Safe Mode and press Enter. Wait for the computer to start the system in the selected mode.
Step 5
If after starting Windows the banner is not displayed on the desktop, then follow the algorithm described in the previous steps to start the process of restoring the operating system settings. If this process does not help, then run the Startup Repair function using the Windows Seven CD.
